So my Significant Other (EpoLady) and I were just chatting about summertime and how much we miss it, and she mentioned water balloons. OMG I love water balloons.

So the convo quickly evolved into fun with water balloons, and we decided that what this city needs is a water balloon social. So we've decided that sometime this summer, we're going to go buy like ten thousand balloons, put up flyers, and have an epic water balloon fight in Stevens Square Park.

I'm thinking there probably ought to be a water-balloon bicycle relay race, like 5 laps around the park, and of course it's impossible to imagine this going on without getting the puppehs involved (Corgis and labs and water-balloon fights? Too badassed for words.) Definitely a balloon toss. Maybe a greased-watermelon race. Maybe just a whole lot of fun one nice afternoon day in July.

Whaddaya think? Would it be worth it to y'all to come out and have a ball? Of course it would.

SuperSoakers welcome.

SWMBO also posted this on another forum, one with members nationwide. I fear we may have created amonster.

But... shoot. Balloons are dirt cheap, water is free from the pump in the park, and what's a little work compared to the fun to be had? I'm having trouble visualizing how 10,000 water balloons can be stored, though. And I gotta figure out a way to fill the balloons at the hand-pump in the park, because I'm not going to do this at the kitchen sink and bucket-brigade them over to the park! Surely there's some sort of adapter. They make adapters for everything.

Does the pump in the Park even work?

I plan on hauling my own balloons with a trailer.

Worked fine as of mid-October. It's only got three moving parts, they last a long time. If it doesn't I'll talk to the Stevens Community management about running a hose over from a building.

Whatever. Fun will be had, and it's too far away for me to worry about it.

I am so in. Water balloons used to fight is a great pastime.

Pre-game may be undertaken in my courtyard, for those who think that water balloons and bikes go better with beer. I wonder if the massive tubs of water balloons will scare off the crackheads? Hmm.....
