That was awesome!! I almost got brought to a halt by the wind crossing the bridge over I-94 on Chicago Ave. this evening on the ride home. Ha! I am sooooo glad I didn't wimp out and take the bus.

My evening trip to the coop was really nasty - thought I was going to get pushed over a couple of times - note to self: when conditions are bad, only get as many groceries as fit in your bag - no trying to hold another one in a hand and ride.

You're a better man than I. Had to make two round trips today and did both on the number 5. I'm too old and tired to find this exciting.

[edit for spelling]

I can't remember the last time I had so much fun on my commute! Going 30mph with the wind so it felt like a dead calm, having to lean from one side to the next as the crosswinds around the buildings would change from block-to-block downtown, giggling maniacally as I get pushed out of a trackstand and wishing I had a freewheel to just coast along...

A headwind on the other hand would have SUCKED.

Intense. I decided to deal with the blustery day with BALLAST. Lots of evenly distributed ballast because I knew I was going to be riding with tail/ crosswinds. I let the bus handle the headwinds. (You are welcome, knees.)

My ride home yesterday was awesome....My ride to Brits was not so awesome. I seriously felt like I wasn't going to make it down there. Definitely had a few gusts that made me stop in my tracks. The ride back to NE was super awesome across Hennepin bridge.

I can't wait til this ish is over after today

I have to go north for ten miles then east for ten miles. I'm looking forward to both.

I'm glad last night is over - heading west was really brutal.

I'm just glad my home trip is west. I cant imagine fighting a headwind like that on the way TO work every morning.

The good news is it's usually a little lighter in the early morning hours. The bad news is that it still sucks.

But the good news is that the ride home is awesome.

If Mother Nature times it right, a cold front comes through during the day and you get tailwinds both ways!
