Found out this morning that the Plymouth Ave. Bridge is now closed to pedestrians and bikes. It's been closed to cars for months, but now it's closed to everyone. According to the city, it'll stay closed to all traffic until mid-October.

Grrr. I was fearing that. They put up those fences across the sidewalk, but it was still accessible this weekend, you just need to hop a curb. At least it's finally getting fixed.

Dang, yeah, I heard about it and almost forgot. Thankfully, the morning starts with walking the dog down that way, so I wasn't caught unawares on my commute. Hennepin bridge it is, then. *shudder* I, personally, wish they would never "fix" the bridge, throw some planters up there and make it a bike/walk bridge with a park on it. sigh.

That would be amazing. I've definitely been spoiled using it as a semi-private bike bridge. Love zipping across that nice, wide 100% car-free stretch of Plymouth before getting on the bridge. Oh well.

hmm...yes this stinks. I found out last night. I had to take broadway.....which i dont like at all. Sounds like ill have to come across hennipen now and up marshall. Lame. I wonder why they closed the whole thing? I suppose they are going to tear it out and rebuild. I vote keep it.....but keep cars of it if and make it a transit way for bikes. Put the bridge money into bike lanes on the road that runs down to the stone arch bridge....and redo that section of bike path along the river. That thing is a mess.

I was unofficially told today that the Plymouth Ave. Bridge will reopen on or around the 15th. Should hear the official word soon.

Lowry Avenue bridge reopens on Oct. 27, FYI.

Edit: It's official. Plymouth Bridge reopens Monday.
