Come and be one of the founding members. The rules of this club are simple:

1) Ride a century each month.

2) You are allowed to skip two months due to inclement weather but those rides must be made up in another month. (Substituting February for June is kinda sketchy, though.)

3) During winter months, anything over 90 miles counts as long as the reason for not making the full 100 is beyond your control (mechanical issues, truly dangerous weather, etc.)

Anyone is welcome to ride so you don't need to commit to anything.

Scheduling will be an issue for many, especially with the holidays approaching, so let's start the scheduling early. I want to start in November, and can ride pretty much any weekend. I don't care about the route. I have several good routes on either side of the city, and I'd be open to anyone else's ideas.

Any takers?

2 months off sounds kinda wimpy.

We're Minnesotans, not Portlanders. Snow shouldn't scare us. :D

Snow doesn't scare me. Ice does, and 20 below does. Spiders do too as long as we're on the subject. I don't wanna wuss out for two months either, but I didn't write the rules and the two month clause seems like too good of a lifeboat to change 'em.

I'm in for November - how about a Sunday? My favorite route is out to Stillwater and down to Hastings, but I'll ride wherever.

Sundays would work fine. One of my favorite routes is the Gateway to Stillwater, down to Afton, then into the cities along 70th/Military Road. I'd imagine the route you're talking about from Stillwater to Hastings would be similar. That'd work great, and would be gorgeous. It'd be easy to stretch that into a century with the correct routing from Hastings back into the cities.

Another route I've been eyeballing would be from the cities to Hudson, north in Wisconsin far enough to connect with the Gateway, and home again. I'm not saying let's do it over yours, I just think that'd be a great route and one to consider for a future ride, but with the lack of shoulders in Wisconsin it's be a fair weather ride for sure.

But yeah, I'm down for any Sunday except the 8th. I have a major midterm on the 9th, so I probably couldn't ride on the 8th.

Let's say the 15th then. This Sunday would be good weather-wise, but I have to work on my bike and get a paper done.

15th sounds good. This weekend does look nice, but I'm thinking about joining in on an 80 miler on Saturday which I may just stretch to 100 and get October taken care of. But there's also a really good chance I'll sit on my couch all day complaining that there's nothing to do.

Hear that everyone? First official ride of the Century a Month Club will take place on Sunday, November 15th.

This coming Sunday is the first ride. The weather forecast looks decent enough, but that could just be a dirty lie. I'm riding regardless.

I have a couple of rides mapped out on my side of the river, but my side of the river is hillier than the other side of the river. I'm open to other options if people don't wanna tackle a few hills. I happen to like hills, but that's likely caused by some chemical imbalance. I just don't want to ride alone.

Are people still in?

Hopefully the weather will be good. I'm still in. An afternoon ride would work best for me - church and stuff, ya know.

Yes, I'm still in, been looking forward to this. I'm flexible on Sunday for us to leave whenever.

I'd like to leave as early as possible, as it may be tough to squeeze a 100 miles into an afternoon ride. If we leave too early, it may violate Dann's freedom of religion, and THE LAST thing I need right now is some lawsuit about how the Century a Month Club violates first ammendment rights...

What time would you be able to leave, Dann? Is there any chance you could go to church Saturday, or go twice next week?

Did you get your road bike fixed up, Oshibka? If not, I could put you on one of mine if you can wear a 58.

I have also been excited about this. I'm also strangely excited about our future January rides. See you guys Sunday.

Dan

Actually I did get Saturday night off, so it looks like I can go to church then. Then I can join you as early as you need Sunday morning, so it all works out!

I might still be interested. It depends how I feel Sunday morning, and I still have to figure out whether I'm in decent enough shape right now to ride for 100 miles in a single shot.

Excellent. It turns out someone upstairs wants you to ride, eh?

You are certainly welcome to join us, so do whatever you think is best. If it makes any difference, I don't think we'll be looking to set any speed records on this ride. (I may be speaking for myself. Dann's a bit of a maniac) I've done a ton of riding this fall, but I haven't done anything over fifty miles in over a month, so it'll be a survival game for me too.

I have what looks to be a wonderful ride mapped out (courtesy of the TCBC Bike Atlas). It'll be just over 100 miles, riding up the Gateway, up to Scandia, over to Forest Lake, and down into Saint Paul. I've done several portions of it, and from what I've seen it won't disappoint. It looks like the wind will be at our backs for the second half of the ride, which is always a plus.

Since I'm setting up on the east side, I'd be willing to drive my huge truck over to Mpls to pick up people and their bikes and cart everyone over to this strange land of Saint Paul. Otherwise, it'd work out to be 120 miles for people on the other side of the river.

I'm really, really looking forward to this.
