W.O.W! Women on Wednesdays!

Hello! My name is Susan and I am the Midtown Greenway Coalition’s Trail Watch leader on Wednesday nights. This is a woman-friendly ride: encouraging women to bike and volunteer in order to make the Greenway our own space, to make it safe for all bikers to ride and to create a visible community of women on Trail Watch.

Ride starts at 8 pm and continues until 10 pm. We meet at the 10th avenue entrance to the Midtown Global Market, right above the Greenway. Helmets and lights are required. Riders will need to sign the Trail Watch Waiver to participate.

This is a relaxed and easy ride, great conversation guaranteed, treats encouraged. Women on Wednesdays will officially kick off on April 14 and continue every Wednesday. All are welcome!

For additional information regarding Trail Watch and necessary forms, please see the following links or send me a PM. I look forward to meeting everyone.

+10 - as you know, when you work other than 8-5 M-F, it can be tougher to get together with others. The upside, is riding your bike on trails and streets that are less crowded. I'll be there every Wednesday, so it will hapen!

Women on Wednesdays was able to roll tonight! Thanks to Jamie and Lowrah for helping to make tonight a success. We had a fun ride, ate brownies, had a nice chat with the MPD. Have probably recruited another male for Trail Watch.

Come on Ladies - Join us next week! 8 pm Wednesday.

Might be able to join you for the next few weeks.- Would be the first time on TW duty. What is the average pace and the approximate miles covered in an evening? Also what type of bike would be best for TW?

Thanks,

Harriet

Might be able to join you for the next couple of Weds. Have a few questions though: What is the average pace, and approx. how many miles to you cover in a shift? Also what type of bike would be best for TW duty?

Thanks,

Harriet

Welcome Harriet,

This is a no drop ride, meaning we ride at the pace of the slowest rider. The ride is meant to create community among women bikers as well as other users of the trail so there's a lot of chatting going on. Ride the bike you are most comfortable on or love to ride. Lights and a helmet are required.

Of course, we have to take a break to eat the goodie of the week (last week it was brownies, I haven't decided what I'm making this week). I would characterize the number of miles as a few - it varies, but I also feel strongly enough about this, that if someone is just gett ing into biking and is still strugglilng with getting up the Sabo Bridge, I will walk up the bridge with them.

Please come - I have found Trail Watch to be fun, a great way to give back to the community, and to meet other bikers. It's addicting!

Susan

It's the second WOW ride tonight! I haven't decided - a nummy veggie cake vs butterscotch bars for treats.

Don't forget - 6 rides in a quarter and one of the perks is a 10 percent discount at Freewheel! So start adding to your total and come check out the treat of the week.
