who knows. BUT, wording of the law can be very important. Now there wont really be any gray area.

In relation to the original post, now all a traffic cop needs to do is roll up, see all the cars parked in a "traffic lane" and start writing tickets. In fact, I would simply call up and say "there are a whole row of cars parked in a traffic lane".

Think of all the revenue the city could get from a whole row of cars parked in a lane.

Were bicycles not previously considered vehicles, or at least "other conveyances?" It seems redundant to add "including bicycles." Or was it previously thought that bicycles were only on the street for recreational purposes and not "for the purposes of travel?"

The ordinance change was just wording to help non-lawyers (in the traffic enforcement division) understand that bikes are part of traffic. This didn't change the actual legal situation.

It's progress I applaud. As to the wording, let's remember that it's common to refer to 'vehicles' when one only intends 'automobiles'. I've even seen some cycling 'advocates' say "vehicles and bicycles" in a sentence. It's a minor pet peeve so let me just get this out:

Attention moron(s): a bicycle is a vehicle as defined in both English language dictionaries and MN Statute.

True- they've just dropped the "motorized" from in front of "vehicle".

It's well-put here.

The solid white line in the picture was the outer (curb side) line of the bike lane. They painted over the inner line, thereby eliminating the bike lane. The sign is still up, confusingly indicating a bike lane that no longer exists.

haw 26th Ave. N & 2nd st! I ride by this almost every morning and see the same thing. just on this block,on the rest of North 2nd people seem to know where to park. my guess is it's people who work at the goodin company or discount steel and that they just have an attitude problem with the bike lanes. that is if a bike line actually exists there any more. It's not exactly clear.
anyways no one's ever done anything about it, I've never see a ticket on any of those cars. though it's not as if that the northside cops don't have bigger fish to fry.
