Hi Everyone, It's been a while since I've uploaded some pictures. I've been too busy looking at other people's great bikes on here. So a little about my works in progress...I absolutly love the board track style bikes and I've always wanted to build a motorized one. After some inspiration, and ideas from what other have been doing so far I decided to give it a shot. I bought a womans Huffy mountain bike off of craigslist for 5 dollars and using it as the donor bike. The only thing is, I don't have a welder. So I've been cutting, chopping, shaping, occasionally cutting my hands etc. all the metal parts and having my friend Mark weld them together. As of now, I've got pretty much everything done except I have to modify the downtube to fit the motor ( I measured a little short on how the motor needs to mount correctly...) Anyways, here are the pictures of the build so far. Any ideas, thoughts concerns would be much appreciated. Thanks again for all your inspirations and great bikes on this site! Click the image to enlarge. The donor bike Took all the parts off and stripping the paint Cutting the top tube off Now ready for the modifications Cutting templates for the new top tubes and gas tank Got the top tubes welded on and made my seat Eyeing up the motor *Update* I got the tank mounted on the bike along with cutting and fabricating the bottom curve of the downtube. I have a few more things to tweak with but it's on the final turn for paint. I get a lot of inspiration from this guy, http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 73#p141073His bikes are amazing. I can't decide if I should try to attempt a "worn out" look or just keep the paint fresh. Either way, I'm thinking of a cream/tan color. Tank all done Cut and bent the downtube Test fitting bracket before final bolts, and triming up the excess tubing of original downtube Thanks again for the comments. Nice work man! I did the girls to boys bike for mine, but mine's a pos. Yours has some real effort into it. I would love to see the tank. Made it yourself right? It's to bad about the down tube, but it will probaly make it look even more vintage when it's done. I would like to know how the seat works out for you. I would think you would want springs or an X brace. Just thinking out loud. Your boardtrack looks great. We should get them all out on some kind of run. I haven't fonud any more on bike love, guess i have to look harder. my thread http://www.mplsbikelove.com/forum/viewt ... =7&t=11159

Thanks for the comments! Cru Jones, I used to watch that movie RAD when I was younger like 5 times a day then go out and try to do the tricks on my BMX bike. Ah the memories...I should go rent that movie for good old times. SSeisup, I was thinking of adding some springs under the seat but wanted to try the "hard tail" seat like the originals. I guess the Minnesota pot holes will deteremine if springs need to be added....

That movie was my life for about 8 years. i used to try to do tricks on my tricycle, then banana seat bike, and eventually an old bmx bike. seeing a little girl trying to bunnyhop on a tricycle must have been funny for my parents to watch. my brother and i even made our own "helltrack" in the backyard. anyways, real cool bike!

I picked up one of those engines. It wouldn't work on the frame I wanted without some serious crank work tough. I ended up putting it on a '83 Schwinn Sidewinder I have. Still waiting to upload the photos. I think I'm going to build a lighter weight bike though with 700c wheels. 25 mph just isn't fast enough!
Be careful I got my damn jeans caught twice now in the drive chain. I hit the tar once, and locked up the wheel the second time breaking the chain in the process!
Nice sex change! I need some of those tires too!

RAD, woah. How old is that movie? My little bro was really into RAD. I like "the dirtbike kid" still. Anyone have a copy of "Cold as Ice"? All right, back on boardtrack. Have you heard there is a motorbike race in AZ this month. Many boardtracks and bobbers. Wish I could get there. I plan on going to first thurs. at Dunlo's pizza when it gets warm. Build on.

Looking good. Did you fab up the tank yourself? I like it. Keep us posted. Let me know if you have questions getting that thing running. I've built quite a few of these using the kit motors. They're a lot of fun.

Hey Neicull, thanks for the comment. Yes I fabricated the tank. It is a 5 inch diameter steel tube (I think 18g thickness). I cut the petcock and gas cap assembly off of the tank that was provided in the kit. Here are some pics of the mock up. It runs great. Still breaking in the motor though. I am making a new downtube that is more similar to the original board track bikes, we'll see how it turns out. Mock up of the parts. I have different pedal, sprockets and handle grips I'm gonna use after paint is complete. Template for new downtube. A family friend is an airline mechanic and is going to try and use their cold press machines to bend a tube to match this crazy curve of the template. Primed and rattle can painted the tank and wheels an almond color. I'm gonna go back and sand down "normal" wear and tear areas all over the bike. I'm gonna try and make the bike look like it was rode for years then left in a barn for a long time.

I love it. I had a guy offer me some money for my bike that had the kit so I sold it...and I'm gonna buy two more kits.
Keep up the good work!
