So are people riding in this weather? I suppose its only a drizzle, but its very unmotivating. Maybe I'm just not hard core enough. Besides I don't have fenders on my bike and I don't feel like soaking the back of my shirt. I made a good haul last night anyways. I also just loaded my gut with coffee and a bacon egg and cheese muffin from Bob's Java Hut. I wonder how many other excuses I can come up with.

I rode 28 miles in this crap today. I was out by Square Lake near Stillwater, taking a practice run on the triathalon course. It was a drizzle the first 19 miles, then all hell broke loose. I was soaked to the bone.
I hit a surprisingly deep pothole that swallowed my front tire and spit my front end upward until it smacked me in the chest. Thank goodness the aerobar arm rests have pads. Additionally, I am lucky I didn't knock out my fronts with the ends of the aerobars. This dislodged one of my water bottles which got stuck between the wheel and rear drops. It made a sound like the biggest baseball card ever stuck into the spokes of a bike. The spokes acted like a wood chipper, shredding water bottle into several dozen white plastic shards.
Pothole: 1 Waterbottle: way less than zero.
The sad part was that I went just over 19 miles in 54 minutes, so I was kicking some ass when the big rain hit. I hope I can do the same thing on the 10th of Sept.

You put me to shame. The only bicycle activity I had today was when I picked it up from the back yard (where I drunkenly left it lay last night) and walked it to shelter. Then I ate a meatball sub and thought about getting some fenders.

I rode to work and back... only about 12 miles, but I enjoyed it. Rain can be pleasent with the right bike, and attitude. Although I will probably deny that statement in about 2 months.

I rode back from Harriet Island down University to Franklin. The rain was actually refreshing after I worked flipping burgers all day and the thought of riding home was making me tear up... (I live in Uptown, so it was only 7-8 miles but it felt like more on my way there).
But the rain, and my lack of fenders, brought out that inner-child who loves playing in puddles. I love running in the rain too so that may have helped.

You are all champs. I on the other hand was detered. Maybe I was still bitter from the previous saturday when I was caught in that nasty storm. But even then, I took the easy way out and parked it under an overpass for a bit. Luckily I had a few beers in my bag. My raingear is an overpass and a six pack. It keeps me very dry.
