Hello,

Would you like to see the Northeast Diagonal Trail extended to the trail along County Road C in Roseville? Are you concerned for your safety on County Rd. C between New Brighton Blvd and 35W? If so, then please take a minute to email the following folks:

Scott.Yonke@CO.RAMSEY.MN.US
parks@co.ramsey.mn.us
Connie.Bernardy@CO.RAMSEY.MN.US
Greg.Mack@CO.RAMSEY.MN.US>
deb.bloom@ci.roseville.mn.us
Kara.thomas@ci.roseville.mn.us
info@livingsmarter.org

Scott Yonke and others are preparing a grant request to connect Ramsey County bike trails to the Northeast Diagonal Trail. There's a wonderful bike lane that starts at 35W and follows C east through Roseville. On the other end, there's the NE Diagonal Trail and a marked bike path on 29th Ave NE in St. Anthony Village. County Rd C west of 35W a glaring missing link.

Please send them a note of encouragement to complete the missing link. Also, please ask them to take some steps now to improve bicycling safety on County Road C between New Brighton Blvd and Long Lake Road. That stretch is very dangerous for bicyclists (no caution signs, no shoulder, no sidewalk, no bike lane, high speeds, big trucks).

Thanks!

P.S. Here's a map:

I just sent the following email:

Good Day, Everybody.

I understand that a grant request is being prepared to connect Ramsey County bike trails to the Diagonal Trail.

I heartily endorse and look forward to the extension of the Diagonal Trail to the County Road C Trail.

I've lived in Roseville for ... years and have been biking this route year-around for several years--even before the old rail bed became the MDT.

I am grateful for the MDT and for the path under the 35W bridge. It has been very helpful. The trail is almost complete.

This last stretch between Long Lake Road and Walnut can be very difficult to negotiate. It sometimes feels like "running the gauntlet".

Anything that can be done to improve the safety of bikers in this stretch would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support of biking and the safety of Twin City bikers.

Sincerely,
...

This would help my commute to work quite a bit. I don't like having to cross 35W on Cty Rd D.

What is this "path under 35W" that you reference? I can't find anything about this?

On the south side of County Road C there's a multi-use path that starts at Cleveland,
goes under the 35W bridge, and heads west to Long Lake Road and a half block beyond.
For me, it serves as an extension of the County Road C trail. Unfortunately, that's where it ends.
There's a MUP on the north side of C from Long Lake Road to the Minnesota Commercial tracks.

When I don't feel like running the gauntlet out on County Road C (from the LLR to Walnut),
I go south on LLR to Terminal Rd and pick up the asphalt west to Walnut.
At Walnut I go north to the tracks and the entrance to the Diagonal Trail. Like this.
