The 2012 Minnesota Bike Summit on Capitol Hill is just two weeks away on
Monday, March 5, 2012. If anyone wants to bikepool from Minneapolis, please let me know!

What is the Bike Summit?
A way to meet with cycling advocates from all over the state and to discuss
bike-related legislative issues, bike facilities, and state agencies that
impact bicycle programs throughout Minnesota.

Summit Schedule

9:30 a.m. - Registration, Networking, Continental Breakfast
10:00 a.m. - Morning sessions will begin at Christ Lutheran Church,
directly across the street from the Capitol building.
11:45 a.m. - Lunch
12:30 p.m. - Meet in small groups to discuss legislative meetings.
1:45 p.m. - Rally for our cause in the Capitol rotunda.
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Meet with legislators to discuss the impact of
bicycling on the health of individuals, communities, the environment and the
economy.

BikeMN's 2012 Legislative Agenda:

- Support for the authorization of Minnesota's first state bikeway
- Create the first state funded Safe Routes to School grant program in the
nation
- Pass important bike safety improvements.

Dorian, the executive director of Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, also wrote a blog post for us about the Summit and the organization's legislative agenda. We have the event on the calendar as well.

Mn/DOT has been scoping out the best route for a while and I think most of what they have to do is just install signage (I think maybe 10-20% infrastructure):



I'm pretty sure you can see these signs around the metro area on the River Pkwys.

I think they are also working with the towns and communities near the MRT so they can have good signage to nearby towns that are planning on having amenities for bicycles, general food/water/camping signs or general points of interest.

I've seen them around Fort Snelling and along Warner Road in lower St Paul.
