I'm converting my wife's old Hardrock to a single speed and could use a few items. Looking for workable, not fancy.
square taper crankarms that have replaceable rings or SS specific. I would also entertain a crankset as I will be replacing the BB as well. The crap arms on the bike currently are a pinned triple, so I can't reuse or replace them. weak sauce.
if someone had a SS cassette spacing kit I would be interested in that as well, as the rear wheel is a freehub.

Looking for a fork. 26" wheel. Mtb. Rigid or suspension.
I want it to be super duper light. Carbon. Titanium. That sort of thing.
Probably north of $100.

I am leaning way over towards carbon right now. Not only because titanium is super spendy but because I understand that they can be pretty noodley.
I will buy a new one, but I am hoping to find a used one. Hence the post here.

Since losing my B-stone, I'm gettin' real edgy about leaving my super-nice commuter out in the open when I ride to work (bought it for school because it's a longer ride and there's cameras and shit, but no security at work).
Does anyone have a mountain or road bike sized for a 5'7" that they're looking to unload for ~$100-150? I've got a second bike but it needs more work to be a daily rider than it's worth. Just looking for something to handle a 15mi daily commute that I can lock up without being completely distracted by fear for the full 8 hour workday.
There's always stuff up on Craigslist but I'd prefer not to spend gas money checking out a half-dozen bikes before finding one that's actually set to ride.
Edit: would also go nuts for a decent 3 speed.

WTB: "An aesthetically-pleasing vintage road bike" around 60cm (+/- 2cm) in the $100-$300 price range. Should be reasonably road-ready. Thanks! How vintage? I have a 1987 Raleigh Technium (tri-color paint), 60cm, for $200.

RVK - I might be interested in selling my panasonic dx 1000 or 2000 (can't remember) road bike that I think is a 59cm. It's got an old campy rear derailer, downtube shifters, new cables, bullhorns with aero levers, one michelin pro tire (the other got glass sliced), one conti etc. I don't think I could let the wheelset go with it for $300 but everything else could probably go for pretty little.
BUMP - still looking for a 50/51cm Single Speed road bike commuterish frame/complete for the lady. Old schwinn cross bike would be stellar. Looking to spend $300-400 complete, $100-200 for the frame/fork depending on quality.

Hey my friend had her bike stolen in front of Coffman yesterday. Does anyone have a commuter bike (hybrid or road) for less than $100 for a female that is 5'2''?
Thanks!
