This little lady was basking on the Luce Line high on the hill west of Schaper Park last week, probably 100 yards as the turtle crawls from the little pond at the bottom of the hill, It's unusual for a spiny softshell turtle to be that far away from water. She was trapped on the wrong side of the fence, so we moved her to a safer place.

This deer did not seem to mind me biking by. Earlier this week I saw two fawns in this same spot. Edit: Quite often on my commute to work, I will hear a rooster crowing near Lake Josephine. Today (7/14) while riding on the Gateway Trail, I heard a cow mooing from a nearby farm.

This falcon (or hawk) was using a puddle on the MDT as a birdbath. He flew away as I approached and landed on the fence. As I went by, he just stared at me.

A very common bird (broad wing) to the region, but lovely to see in a close proximity all the same. Great experience you I'm jealous

Yes, indeed. The puddle is shaped like a heart.

As I approached the Gateway Trail today I saw a deer walking down the trail. It looked at me as I got my phone out to take a picture and then stepped off the trail. I managed to catch a glimpse of it in the frame below.
