Can someone find me a map of where the Dero Zap locations at the U of M are located? I'm having a hard time finding one.

I have seen claims of 20 installed but I only know of :

- outside U of M Bike Center
- on Harvard, passing by the Rec Center
- Akerman/Scholar's Walk
- Washington Bike/Ped Bridge (on the side that is now closed off)

Apparently there are also two readers on St Paul campus, at Gortner and Buford and Gortner and Commonwealth. I haven't seen those in person, though.

A coworker of mine received this map of planned locations when he inquired at the end of September:

Thanks!

Does anyone else find it odd that they don't have a reader on 15th Ave, Pleasant St., or Church St? Seems like these are some of the most biked routes on campus. They should move the Akerman hall one to Church St since you can't even bike down the Scholars Walk anymore.

Also, I signed up for this last week when I stopped in the U of M bike center but didn't get much of the hard details. Anyone know where to find the specifics of what discounts I will get and how many zaps I need to accrue before they go into effect?

I let Rolf at Dero know about this thread. Here is is response:

++++++++++++++++++++++++

I tried to register to answer their questions but the stupid registration code thing was impossible to read and I failed too many times. If you ever reply to them, you can say that the contractor (not Dero) is 4 months late installing the system. We have taken over the contract and are installing them ourselves. 17 locations should be up by next week. Including Washington Ave Bridge, East River Rd., Rarig Hall bike path, Harvard street by hospital, 17th Ave by parking garage, Sanford Hall/4th Street, Pleasant Street by Scott hall, Beacon Street, Harvard Street by Sport Center, Transitway. There are 4 on the St. Paul Campus. Hope that helps. Thanks for letting me know of the discussion.

The one at Scott Hall (just north of the NW corner of Pleasant and Arlington) is installed.

I'm not sure about the discount situation, but if you are a U staff member the Guide for UPlan Benefits Enrollment (pdf) shows this on page 31:

"Beginning in 2012 when you participate in the Wellness Program, you can earn wellness points. The points you accumulate in a Wellness Points Bank will allow you to reduce your 2013 Medical Plan rates while taking steps to improve your health and well-being at the same time. Your employee rates can be reduced by $300 or $400 in 2013 when you earn the minimum number of points required for your level of coverage."

On the following page, the "Bicycle commuter program" is listed as a wellness activity, but that it will not be available until spring 2012.

I'm guessing that everyone who registered at https://www.derozap.com/ with a U e-mail address will be e-mailed with program and/or discount details at some point.

For those who care, I talked to the Dero folks at the U of M farmers market today and they said they are in the process of installing a zapper right outside the CVS in dinkytown for people leaving/arriving to campus on 15th. Hurray.

They're also installing one on West River Parkway near 13th in the next few days.

Did anybody get their bike tagged at the DeroZap tent outside of Williamson Hall on the U of MN campus a few weeks ago? It was the free coffee/donuts for cyclists event...

If you did, have you gotten any log in info yet?

There's also one at 15th and Hennepin at the entrance to Loring Park. Anyone know what's up with that one?

Minneapolis and St. Paul (through their TMOs) are gearing up to participate on the Zap program: http://www.zaptwincities.org/

(It says June, but it's really going to be around the end of August.)
