I missed the Steph's No Name race because my sister had the fam' over for dinner.
She made a lasagna! It was awesome. There no riding to be done after that. I also got to take home about a 1/3 of a gallon of pasta salad. I'm in heaven. Today for the commute, my legs were silky smooth!
What are some of your favorite foods to have after a ride??
I love bananas. Gotta get that potassium!
Also burritos. I'm a bit partial to Burrito Loco since I used to work there, but Chipotle (those evil corporate bastards) can hold it down as well.
More pasta salad!

nothing fancy, brown rice and beans with mixed veggies get me from A to B
Jimmy John's Gargantuan is great but you probably won't be going anywhere soon after, at least a rapid pace.

I read an article about the best foods to eat after long rides being items high in antioxidants. Beans (not canned) were the top rankers, but there were blueberries and some other things too.
The antioxidants end up balancing out the free radicals in your muscles so you aren't sore the next day.
Too bad I normally just fill my face with chips and the like after riding. But they are so salty and delicious!

The night before my first century, I had a bunch of brats, beer, and some s'mores.
I didn't plan on doing a century, just 50 miles, but at my turnaround point there's a 25 mile trail -- so I went along that and back. I had nothing but a single Clif bar with me. Took me over nine hours. If it wasn't for the carbohydrates from the brats and beer, I probably couldn't have made it. :)

I'm all about cheesburgers, fries, and beer. Good ol' backyard grilling action. Mmmmm. I love onion rings too. I'm all about bowling alley-type food. 'cept I add everything but the kitchen sink in my burgers, they're more like meatloaf.
I love asian too. Mmmmm. Well, come to think of it I like more food than I don't like. Food is awesome!

Regular beer, like Budweiser is another excellent way to replenish depleted potassium after a big ride. Marathon runners will often chug a beer after a race to lessen the cramping of the leg muscles.

Its water. I gotta have water! Then beer. Well, maybe vodka. It mixes well with lots of stuff. Then something meaty. Steak, burgers, maybe even something hotdish-ish. Casserole, for those not from around these here parts. But mostly beer.

After a long ride, I go for a big bowl of
Vietnamese noodle salad, or pad thai with tofu.
Mmm, noodly goodness.

Burritos, mashed potatoes, french fries, pasta, hamburgers, pickles...
I'm always hungry! And I love carbohydrates.

Bacon, I am a devout fan of bacon. Although it has to be nitrate free and naturally smoked, or else it just tastes like chemicals. Most of the time I end up eating crusty bread with salami and good cheeses, that is how I subside more often than not. Though during this time of year I do make bi-weekly treks to the farmer's market, can't get enough of that fresh produce.
