And an email from the head of HR today:

Quote:
For all of you Twins Fans out there, today was not a good day. The Twins lost 3-2 to Oakland, so they could use a little help (yes California we know you guys were probably happy)!

To help our Twins out, we have declared this Friday, October 6th, a TWINS RALLY DAY at Mpls East. Therefore all employees can wear jeans and their Twins gear so we can help pump this team up!

For the outlying areas, feel free to wear your favorite sports team gear on Friday.

GO TWINS!!!

:PUKE:

i live downtown and on game days, it is HORRIBLE to bike anywhere....but, thats not the worst....the honking is.....they love to honk over and over and over again.....please, STOP HONKING!....it is extremely annoying for the residents of downtown.....and if you're biking through this and hear constant honking, it completely frazzles your nerves....grrrrr

You'd better don your Twins garb, because they're gonna
know, and then win for your office!

I can't believe this was an official HR notice.

Can anyone drum up an Oakland jersey for hereNT to wear?

I am so glad someone started this thread, as I had a run in with a drunken Twins fan in his Camry. I was on Washington Ave Eastbound at the stoplight for 35w. I was in the right lane (in my rightful place) and waiting behind two other cars when this guy pulls up and slams on his brakes behind me. He begins honking (despite the red light) and yelling "Get the fuck out of the road". At that point I found it necessary to escalate the situation. I flipped him off and rode forward as the light turned green (getting past the other two cars on the far right).

At that point, the adrenaline kicked in and I thought it might get worse, so I got my u-lock out of its holder on my seat tube and continued to ride with it in my right hand. We got about two lights past 35w and he pulled up next to me and continued screaming obscenities while going down the street. When we got to the third light he gestured as though he was going to get out of the car, so I silently showed him the u-lock. Apparently he changed his mind about getting out. Crisis overted. My legs were shaking so hard I couldn't do a track stand at the next light. All the work up for nothing....

I've grabbed my lock in a situation like that before. Like i'm gonna hit the guy upside his head? But it seemed like a good defensive measure. Beer was involved.

I agree. I think I would try to take out a knee....that would keep it a misdemeanor assault....

I hope it never comes to it, but it sure comes across as convincing!

I kinda liked biking to work in the traffic today. It was like living in a big city, with blocks and blocks of idle cars to fly past and weave through.

One must be careful though - a lot of those people don't seem to know their way around dt.

It was even more fun at night after the all city championship. I think I was riding home as a concert was letting out, so it was totally packed.
