Come one, come all!
over the river to old saint paul
drink a beer
try not to stall
while sprinting up
the Ramsey wall
With the success of puhrot's NE pub crawl and the fun had therein, i figured i'd put out a flyer on any interest in a St. Paul edition.
Updated: It's on, October 5!

That would be great. Maybe last weekend of September or first of October.

I think there's another NE pub crawl set for the 21st. But I think the first week in October would give me enough time to recover. Other than recovery time, sounds like it would be a lot of fun. The bars are a little more spaced out in St. Paul, so there would be more riding.

There is this totally scary dive on White Bear and Minnehaha that used to have all-you-can-drink PBRs for $5 on Tuesdays. Not that I want to do the pub crawl on a Tuesday - providing info.

Well, the bars won't be as close together as the NE crawl was, but there are lots of options, and we could keep it to one side of town or another. More riding is good! It might be a good idea to begin or end at someplace like the Dubliner, since it's easy to find for the out-of-towners.
Thinking more about this, i realize that i know more bars with good beer and/or food than bars with cheap beer. There are some more divey bars along west 7th, and a couple along University, though i know a couple of them have bands and hence, cover charges on weekends. I think Shamrocks on W.7th has specials, but on tuesday nights, there are probably others. I also don't know the east side of town very well at all. Some reconnaissance is in order, i'll scout around a little next week.
Offhand, i can think of the Dubliner, Big Vee's, the Half Time Rec, the Muddy Pig, Sweeney's, the Happy Gnome, Groveland Tap, maybe the Chatterbox, as good options with potentially no cover. All suggestions welcome, of course.
I like the idea of a Friday night - i'll almost certainly have a cyclocross race the next day if it's October, but hey, beer is good carbo loading

Fridays are very good - there's also less of a chance that Marc has to work.
Happy Gnome, Muddy Pig, Great Waters - good, but trendy
Ni-Lites is off Concord in West St. Paul and has $1 taps (and karoke)

i vote for Oct 5th. That'll give 2 weeks after the NE crawl.
Other votes? Other destinations? We should probably start working up a route soon.

the great waters patio may work, they will probably have the fire pit going by then. well i'm sure they will if i use the magic word.
i'll retract my liffy vote and make my muddy pig vote a double vote. they have some mean oktoberfest beers.
