Or don't. Really, I'm just checking to make sure that this actually works the way that it's advertised to.

Include original message text option?

How does one quote all or part of the post being replied to?

Other than by copying text before hitting reply and then pasting it inside the square-bracketed tags generated by the button that says QUOTE":

I don't think that works yet

The add-on has only been released for a few hours, so I haven't even had a chance to look at the code base on it. I'm sure that there's going to be a lot that needs to be added on to make it work.

Check out the feature list and screencast and you'll know about as much as I do smiling

A little clunky still

I agree - reply vs new post screen is the same - could use a little usability checking.

What do you expect for $55 bucks?

It is kind of brand new, but they did have a version of it up on the official Concrete5 site for quite awhile now.

I don't think that anything that comes out of the marketplace is going to work for _exactly_ what we need right out of the box at all. Everything is going to require a bit of tweaking and extending to fill all of the functionality that we're going to need.

There are a lot of features I do really like, though. Like the 'promote to page' feature. I think with some of the changes I'm going to be making to the calendar and maps plugins, we will end up with a really awesome forum. I want to change the editor a bit, too, so it has the full rich text editor instead of just the bbcode.

It's just going to take months and months and months to get it all done.

That's why I'm a little hesitant throwing some of it live, because it's not done, but I also have to be able to show people what's coming to try and attract more donating members. Or sell hipster stocking stuffer packages. Anything really.

I spent at least 12 hours and $55 bucks yesterday on it with no return on the investment.

Sigh.

Look on the bright side

I like it. You've got a brilliant start on it. I saw the feature list & screencast. The concepts are great, hopefully you have granular flexibility with the the controls.

One of my favorite parts of my day job is UI functionality design/conceptualizing and feature testing. I like what I see here and am willing to donate some of my time to help you out with getting this to be what you want it to be, if you're interested.

ps - how about a link to the pedometer for creating riding routes on the home page?

It's moving along

I think getting something out there to let people play and give you feedback is way better than trying to get it all "done". Makes us all feel like we're part of the process.

And - it's coming together nicely - well done!

I could just be paranoid

I don't know, I tend to freak out a little bit, but it's not without a bit of a reason.

The way I'm feeling about it mentally, I don't know, it's not great. Like I said, there's months of work, and I maybe have enough money to live until the beginning of next month, but that's about it. I don't have unemployment, I don't have insurance, I don't have savings, I don't have money to pay my taxes, I'm pretty much fucked. I'm not going to deny that it kind of scares the crap out of me.

I'm pretty positive about the direction and think I'm doing the right thing trying to work on the site, but trying to figure out what to work on first is kind of driving me nuts.

I know I explained it to hutman a bit offline, but for everone else, the whole general idea is that I would like to get businesses and advocacy groups to set up their own presences on the site. I only have Tillie's up as an example now, but there's another hidden in there for another business that's interested. I'll actually have the one for Hutman, Inc up later on tonight, that will have almost all of the features of a default listing.

I'm hoping that the business that choose to be listed will choose to opt-in and offer a discount for people who choose to be donating members, which will in turn encourage more people to become donating members. Donating members would get other perks, too.

I'm just not really sure where to put the pricing on the listings. How much is this worth to businesses? How much is it worth to a non-profit to have a listing? Should I bother with the store? What does it take to actually get people to join as paid members instead of freeloaders?

It feels like the progress that I'm making on the site is in little tiny chips on a bunch of huge boulders, and that I won't really end up seeing much return until I've gotten rid of the boulders.

Sigh. I always get depressed when it starts snowing.

Actually

It does on the old forum, too, you just don't see it. If you look at the rss feed, you'll see the list of titles - most of the time they're just listed as:

You're just seeing it on the new system.
