This isn't a non-profit, your donations are not tax deductible. But the money goes
to good things like paying my rent and making sure that I have
food in the fridge. I really appreciate anything you can
contribute to the work being done on the site.

You can really donate whatever you want whenver you want. I just kind of made up some levels that sounded kind of good, at least to me.
I've decided that I don't really want to go through the hassle of trying to figure out how to take stuff away from people when they don't pay. Really, it is a little silly. The donations thing on the phpbb forum before never did have a way to remove people from the donating group unless it was done manually. This seems like an awful lot of work. I don't think that you guys want your donations going towards that code, anyway. Do you?
Anyway, some features like a discount card for local businesses and maybe a printed newsletter with coupons or something will probably end up being on a yearly subscription basis, but I'm going to try to set that up with a much more robust member management system than we have available right now. It's probably going to be months and months before that's all finalized, and there's a good possibility that it's going to be through another organization. Once that kicks in as bikelove.org as an official organization, I'll give everyone who's a donating member on mplsbikelove a year's membership over there for free :)
So, since this is now an accumulated lifetime level and a recognition for supporting mplsbikelove.com, you could either leave the PayPal subscription active or cancel it. You won't be penalized for stopping further payment.
If you paid two years, you're already in the silver level :D
I'm still hoping to offer the features like the Bike Friendly Business database and the Advocacy Group action pages, but I don't think that I can do those as mplsbikelove.com. I'm going to be trying to find some people that are interested in starting a new group working to provide those features to groups like mplsbikelove or other cities around the nation and the world. That group is going to be called bikelove.org.
That said, if you'd like to donate more as a business or organization to Jeremy Werst / mplsbikelove.com / whatever because you like the site and you think it's cool, please feel free to contact me and I will see what I can do about getting you proper recognition for your contribution.
I'll probably be coming up with a list of fees for the business listings, probably around the same price as the member gold / platinum levels, but with a set-up fee depending on what features are needed on the pages. These business accounts will be able to post to a deals / specials calendar, probably to a few blogs, etc. There will probably be a discounted rate for banner advertisements, as well.
I'm going to wait on doing much of anything with any other advocacy groups or non-profits until I have BikeLove incorporated.
Thanks again, the money that forum members chip in I think does go towards some really great stuff like, um, paying my rent so that I can try and focus on this stuff full time and try to make something that's really cool and useful for people.
